Good morning beloved,
This is Mike so it will be more informative than anything, sorry. But know one thing the Lord is with us and has gone before us every step:
Sunday- We all met at PM with anticipations of a quick flight to Houston and a nice rest before leaving in the morning to Guatemala. Delayed airplanes and a travelers ticket in the wrong name caused us to have to spen w extra hours in Denver. But the Lord knew we would need that amount of time to get the ticket changed into the correct name. Of course the airlines couldn’t change it.
Kathy Wilson our ever patient travel agent and very special team mate was shopping for stuff for her Christmas boxes and I literally got her in Target 5:30 Saturday night; she left everything in her basket left right away and some how got ahold of her agent at United and got the ticket change and Lisa and Mike were standing in the security check line a half hour later.
After more delays on the ground we finally arrived in Guatemala City about 2 hours late to enjoy rush hour traffic and a long crawl through the traffic. What should have been about 3 1/2 hours turned into 5. Arriving at our hotel to be created by the manager of the hotel who gave us smiles and hugs. Mike headed to get chicken for the team and Kirk gave a devotion on the faith of the Centurion and a team briefing. Chicken and laughter was followed by a late nights sleep.
Monday 11/19: after a trip to Dr. Gomez’s office and the grocery store we head out to the village. What an amazing sight to wind up the dirty bumpy road to the village to be greeted by 200+/- villagers with prayers and shovels to go to work with us.
Splitting up into teams some starting from the top and young bucks, old Bill Scott and the Douglas brothers going to the bottom. Now let me tell you, I’m from Colorado I have been drug around and drug myself around a lot of mountain trails I have never yes never been on a stepper sliprier trail than this. The Scott boys, Dane Douglas , Matt Lewan and his friend carried 80# pieces of pipe down the mountain to start building the pipe line. Kirk and Mike began the process of installing a very complicated pump and control system. We walked up from the bottom to our truck in the dark and off to a very quite dinner.
While this was going on the ladies from DCC had 40+/- kids for VBS and games and sounds like a very profitable Christ honoring day, Praise the Lord.
Everyone is fine, the Lord is good and Mike had a good night rest.
Photos tonigh, we love you all and are so thankful for prayers and I that you for letting us go.
